Partnerships for Healthy Ageing

WHO works with a range of actors to catalyse the systemic change envisioned by the Global strategy and action plan on ageing and health with a focus on the Ten Priorities. Together, we work to raise awareness, harness and build capacity, improve policies, systems, and services, fill research and information gaps, and provide meaningful data to stimulate innovative local responses.

Non-State Actors

A large number of non-State actors, i.e. non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private sector entities, philanthropic foundations, and academic institutions contribute to these efforts. How we work together is governed by the Framework of Engagement with Non-State Actors (FENSA), adopted by the 69th session of the World Health Assembly in May 2016 (Resolution WHA69.10). A list of the non-State actors working on ageing and health can be found in the WHO Register of non-State actors. Two non-State actors that are in official relations and hence have been approved by the WHO Executive Board are:

  • International Federation on Ageing; and
  • HelpAge International

Networks

WHO also works with a range of Networks of key stakeholders to advance the Ten Priorities. These include:
