2 September 2019 -- Even though Ebola has been shouldering in the suburbs and villages surrounding Beni for over a year, few people recognize its early symptoms. So many other conditions are heralded by the early symptoms of Ebola -- fever, fatigue, headache, muscle pains -- that people are more likely to go to a local private clinic before calling the Ebola hotline or seeking help at an Ebola treatment centre.

29 August 2019 -- As the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo reaches 3000 cases, WHO calls for the full force of all partners to respond and increase their presence in the field to stop Ebola and to address one of the largest and most complex humanitarian crises in the world.

Measles control in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

29 August 2019 -- WHO and partners are mobilizing resources to accelerate the fight against measles in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Since the beginning of 2019 the epidemic has affected 26 provinces, with more than 161 397 suspected cases including 3117 deaths.

Update on Ebola drug trial: two strong performers identified

11 August 2019 -- The co-sponsors of the Ebola therapeutics trial in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) have announced advances that will bring patients a better chance of survival. Two out of the four drugs being tested are more effective in treating Ebola. Moving forward, these are the only drugs that future patients will be treated with. Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern

17 July 2019 - WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus today declared the Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC).

High-level meeting on the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo affirms support for Government-led response and UN system-wide approach

15 July 2019 -- Almost a year after the outbreak of Ebola was declared in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and with the number of new cases at worrying levels, the United Nations hosted a high-level meeting today in Geneva to take stock of the coordinated response and galvanize further support for the government-led effort to defeat the deadly disease.

Communities and coordination are crucial in fighting Ebola

3 July 2019 Cibitoke, Burundi -- Close to the border with the Ebola-hit Democratic Republic of Congo, over 100 volunteer health workers are busily planning surveillance actions to detect potential Ebola cases and defend against the virus.

The Ebola virus disease has moved closer to the 147 km land border between Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo since the outbreak began in August 2018 in North Kivu.
