WHO appeals for international community support; warns of grave health risks to Rohingya refugees in rainy season

29 March 2018 Dhaka -- With a grossly underfunded health sector grappling to meet the needs of 1.3 million Rohingyas in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar, the World Health Organization has appealed to the international community to contribute generously to enable appropriate and timely health services to this highly vulnerable population, now facing grave risks to their lives and health in view of the coming rainy season.

Urgent need to scale up health services in Cox’s Bazar: WHO

20 February 2018 Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh: Calling for continued efforts to further scale up health services for nearly 1.3 million people in Cox’s Bazar, Rohingyas and their surrounding host communities, the World Health Organization today said six months after the start of the refugee crisis, the vulnerable populations remain at risk of several diseases and in need of critical services for survival.
