WHO’s work in emergencies: prepare, prevent, detect and respond - Annual Report 2018

Outbreaks of infectious disease, disasters, and conflict have reinforced the reality that the world remains vulnerable to health emergencies that can have a global impact. Significant gaps remain in the capacity of many countries to manage all-hazards health emergencies and disaster risk. This means that WHO's role as a convener and lead coordinator to ensure a swift response and international cooperation is more critical than ever. This report highlights the work of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, together with its partners, to protect the vulnerable by helping countries to better prepare, prevent, detect and respond to the myriad health risks we face today.
