WHO information for molecular diagnosis of influenza virus - update
This document provides information on molecular detection/diagnostic protocols updated as of the above date for surveillance of influenza viruses in humans.
This is a revision of the document initially published on the WHO website in November 2012 and last revised in July 2017 with updated molecular protocols. The protocols are described in the annexes 1, 2 and 3.
Revision November 2018:
- Annex 2. B. Protocol 2 updated: Real-time RT-PCR one-step duplex for the detection of Influenza type A subtype H1pdm09 and subtype H3 (Page 29)
- Annex 2. D. Protocol 1: Real-time RT-PCR assays for the detection of seasonal influenza viruses and H5N1 influenza viruses(Page 34)
- Annex 2. D. Protocol 2 updated: Real-time RT-PCR for the detection of A(H5) gene (Page 39)
- Annex 2. D. Protocol 3 updated: Real-time RT-PCR procedures for the detection of influenza A, influenza B, A(H1N1), A(H3N2), A(H5N1), A(H7N9), A(H9N2) viruses (Page 41)
