Neglected tropical diseases

Contribution of pharmaceutical companies to the control of neglected tropical diseases

WHO’s roadmap Accelerating Work to Overcome the Global Impact of Neglected Tropical Diseases – A Roadmap for Implementation [pdf 1.2Mb] shows the way forward for the control and elimination of the 17 neglected tropical diseases which devastate the lives of the world’s poorest populations.

WHO, supported by Member States, is committed to work with international agencies, non-governmental development organizations and the public and private sectors to provide treatment to those who can least afford it so that they can lead healthier and more productive lives.

Recent increases in medicine donations by the pharmaceutical industry have allowed a scale-up of interventions, increasing access to high-quality medicines free of charge for hundreds of millions of people worldwide.
