Preventing disease through healthy environments: a global assessment of the burden of disease from environmental risks
The main message emerging from this new comprehensive global assessment is that premature death and disease can be prevented through healthier environments – and to a significant degree. Analysing the latest data on the environment-disease nexus and the devastating impact of environmental hazards and risks on global health, backed up by expert opinion, this report covers more than 100 diseases and injuries.
This first JMP report on WASH in health care facilities introduces new service ladders for basic services and establishes national, regional and global baseline estimates that contribute towards global monitoring of SDG targets 6.1 and 6.2 –universal access to WASH.
This toolkit provides step-by-step guidance to NTD programme managers and partners on how to engage and work collaboratively with the WASH community to improve delivery of water, sanitation and hygiene services to underserved population affected by many neglected tropical diseases.
