Mission statement

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) is dedicated to the establishment of high standards of practice in obstetrics and gynaecology and women’s health. The College trains and accredits doctors throughout Australia and New Zealand in the specialties of obstetrics and gynaecology so that they are capable of providing the highest standards of healthcare. The College also supports research into women’s health and acts as an advocate for women’s healthcare by forging productive relationships with individuals, the community and professional organisations, both locally and internationally.

Global health vision

RANZCOG’s vision in global health is to improve the health of women and their families, particularly in our geographical region.

Through collaboration, partnerships and advocacy, RANZCOG will contribute to regional efforts to empower the reproductive health workforce to meet the challenges of providing quality care in low resource and isolated settings. RANZCOG’s commitment will include educational support, provision of resources, networking support and facilitation of training, research and continuing professional development opportunities for obstetricians and gynaecologists, midwives and other reproductive health workers.

RANZCOG provides contributions to global women’s health through advocacy, training, education and research support, and through engagement with College members, regional partners and other bodies concerned with women’s health in the international arena, particularly in the Pacific region.
