March of Dimes launches Prematurity Campaign and Prematurity Day
7 NOVEMBER 2011
The March of Dimes has launched a Campaign to bring attention to premature babies in the United States and worldwide –and has launched a special day to mark premature births.
The PMNCH member is calling for the public to both “honour the million babies worldwide who died this year because they were born too soon, and the 12 million more who struggle to survive” because of premature birth. The March of Dimes has launched a special website with statistic and proposed actions. On November 17th, they honoured premature babies as World Prematurity Day—working to focus everyone’s attention on the serious problem of premature birth. On a special Facebook page, they encourage readers to read stories from around the world and “share your own”.
