New PMNCH Board members are welcomed at retreat

MARCH 2011 | CAMBRIDGE

Following recent elections to fill the three available seats, the PMNCH Board is pleased to officially announce the following new Board Members:

  • NGO representative: World Vision International (WVI), represented by Dr Stefan Germann, Director, WVI Global Health Partnerships & Health Research Unit, replacing: Ann Starrs, NGO rep and co-Chair, Family Care International (FCI));
  • NGO representative: Save the Children India, represented by Dr Rajiv Tandon, Senior Advisor, Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN), replacing: Kaosar Afsana, for Sir Fazle Abed, NGO rep, BRAC, Bangladesh;
  • ART representative and Child Health Expert: Professor Anthony Costello, Director of the Institute for Global Health and Professor of International Child Health at the Institute of Child Health (UCI) as Child Health Expert, replacing: Jane Schaller, Child Health Expert.
  • In addition, Judith F. Helzner, Director, Population and Reproductive Health at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation replaces France Donnay (from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation), who will remain as an Alternate (Foundations seat) to the Board. Pius Okong, who had been serving as an alternate to the HCPA seat occupied by FIGO (André Lalonde) now becomes the HCPA Representative .

At this time, the Board is also honored to welcome H.E. Dr Hadji Hussein Mponda, Minister of Health & Social Welfare, Government of Tanzania.
