WHO global consultation with communities, nongovernmental and other civil society organizations to enhance their engagement in the implementation of End TB Strategy
11-13 November 2015, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
This landmark event focused on exchanging experiences, challenges and innovative approaches in existing community engagement efforts to combat TB. It was attended by 150 participants from 90 community-based, nongovernmental and other civil society orgnizations representing 35 countries. A key outcome of the meeting is a "Statement of Action" outlining specific actions for NGOs and other CSOs, National TB Programmes and other stakeholders to successfully implement the End TB Strategy.

This symposium was co-hosted by WHO and Public Services International (PSI). Its objectives were to promote the integration of community-based TB activities into the work of NGOs and other CSOs and to share experiences and best practices in the integration of community-based TB activities into the work of NGOs and other CSOs.
Training on the ENGAGE-TB approach for the BMSF STF Technical Assistance Programme Faculty

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation Secure the Future (BMSF STF) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) hosted a training seeking to strengthen the capacity of BMSF STF Technical Assistance Programme (TAP) Faculty in the ENGAGE-TB Approach. Twenty one TAP Faculty members from Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa and Tanzania were invited to participate. The training objectives included strengthening knowledge and skills on the ENGAGE-TB Approach and its six components, and building the capacity of the TAP Faculty to provide technical assistance on the integrated community-based TB activities.
Training on integrating community-based TB activities into the work of NGOs and other CSOs (the ENGAGE-TB Approach)
10-14 February 2014, Nairobi, Kenya
The World Health Organization and the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) convened a five-day training on integrating community-based TB activities into the work of NGOs and other CSOs (the ENGAGE-TB Approach). The objective of the training was to create a pool of consultants who can assist national TB programmes and civil society organizations to collaborate and expand community-based TB services. Seventeen consultants from twelve countries successfully completed the training. Participants acquired knowledge and skills on the ENGAGE-TB Approach and its six components, including monitoring and evaluation of integrated community-based activities. They learnt how community-based TB activities can be integrated into ongoing NGO work in sectors such as HIV, maternal, newborn and child health, primary health care, agriculture, livelihoods, education, and water, sanitation and hygiene. The training was supported by the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation. The ENGAGE-TB Operational Guidance and accompanying Implementation Manual are available at the links to the right.
