WHO at the high-level week of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)

The 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly will open on 17 September 2019 at the UN Headquarters in New York. Heads of states and governments from 193 Member States will convene during the high-level week (23 – 30 September 2018) for several high-level events including on Universal Health Coverage, Climate Action, Financing and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and progress in addressing the priorities of Small Island developing states.
The WHO delegation will be led by Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and will aim to place health at the center of the global political agenda through engaging ries at the highest level and strengthening partnerships for the Organization’s priorities, including Health for All.

Walk the Talk: Heath for All Challenge

On 22 September 2019, WHO and partners will take part in the “Walk the Talk: Heath for All Challenge” in Central Park. This is a fun, free of charge, 4-mile walk/jog/run event open to people of all ages and abilities that aims to underscore the importance of health for all, and interlinkages among multiple related areas, including physical activity, mental health, healthy cities and climate change.

UN High-level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage

On 23 September 2019, the United Nations General Assembly is staging the High-level Meeting on “Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World’ to mobilize the highest level political support to ensure all people receive the health care and protection needed for health for all. The meeting will bring together heads of state, political and health leaders, policy-makers, and universal health coverage champions to advocate for health for all.
